Los Angeles, Calif. – In a completely dominant display of excellence on both sided of the field, the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team blanked LA Harbor 5-0 on Tuesday, October 21, in a South Coast Conference matchup. The victory marks the Mounties' sixth consecutive win, improving their overall record to 8-2-3 and keeping them undefeated in conference play at 5-0. LA Harbor, meanwhile, falls to 3-8-4 overall and remains winless in the SCC at 0-3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Fabian Barajas opened the scoring in the 20th minute off a pass from Moises Prado to put the Mounties on the board. Just before halftime, Oliver Gutierrez added his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute, set up by Alfonso Ramirez, giving Mt. SAC a 2-0 lead at the break.
The second half saw more of the same skill and strength from the Mounties as Prado sunk a goal of his own in the 53rd minute with Barajas returning the favor on the assist. Alexis Gomez then sealed the dominant win with two quick goals in the 79th and 81st minutes.
The Mounties made the most of their opportunities, converting all five of their shots on goal in a highly efficient offensive showing. On the other end, goalkeeper Edson Mendez came up big with five saves on five shots to secure the clean sheet against the Seahawks.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties return to action on Friday, October 24, for a key conference showdown at home against Pasadena City College (9-3-4). Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM. Keep up the good work, Mounties!
