Monterey Park, Calif. – With total control from start to finish, Mt. SAC dismantled East Los Angeles College in a 5-0 rout on Tuesday, October 14. After a rocky start to the season, the Mounties appear to be hitting their stride, improving their overall record to 6-2-3 and staying unbeaten in South Coast Conference North play at 3-0. Meanwhile, the Huskies fell to 4-5-5 and continue to search for their first conference win (0-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Alfonso Ramirez opened the scoring in the 20th minute, converting a well-placed assist from Julian Vazquez. Moises Prado added to the lead in the 29th minute, sending the Mounties into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
Ramirez struck again in the 49th minute, then turned provider in the 67th, assisting Caleb Perez for Mt. SAC's fourth goal. Ramirez completed his hat trick in the 83rd minute, capping off a stellar individual performance.
Despite their best efforts, ELAC couldn't find the back of the net and found themselves on the wrong side of the referee's book, picking up five total cards—four yellow and one red.
Mt. SAC dominated the stat sheet with 23 total shots, 11 of them on target. In contrast, the Huskies managed just five shots with only one on goal. Goalkeeper Edson Mendez recorded one save in the shutout, while ELAC's Alejandro Borja made 10 saves under constant pressure.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties will look to keep their conference streak alive as they host El Camino College (7-3-4) on Friday, October 17 at 4:00 PM.
