Mt. SAC Set to Host El Camino in First Round of SCFA Playoffs

Walnut, Calif. – After finishing the regular season with an impressive 9-1 record, the Mt. SAC Football Team is gearing up for the opening round of the SCFA Playoffs. As the No. 3 seed in the South, the Mounties will host No. 6 seed El Camino (8-2) on Saturday, November 22 at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

Mt. SAC enters the postseason as National Northern Division Co-Champions, having capped their regular season with a thrilling 55-54 win over Ventura College. El Camino, meanwhile, secured second place in the National Southern League despite a season-ending loss to Saddleback.

The matchup features two of the state's premier running backs. El Camino's Jaden Moore ranks fifth statewide, averaging 111.1 rushing yards per game with 889 yards and 10 touchdowns through eight contests. Mt. SAC's Aiden Ramos sits second in the state with 18 rushing touchdowns, totaling 711 yards on 118 carries (88.9 yards per game). Ramos was also named National Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Adding intrigue to the matchup, Mt. SAC quarterback Hunter Herrera will face his former team after transferring from El Camino last season.

El Camino has produced several SCFA Players of the Week this year, including kicker Christian Miranda (Week 1), defensive back Brett James (Week 2), and running back Damonte Bias (Week 7). Bias made history in that Week 7 performance, rushing for 266 yards on 22 carries to break the Warriors' 27-year-old single-game rushing record.

Mt. SAC linebacker Teyondre Coleman, the National Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Year, earned SCFA Week 7 honors as well, posting 12 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 4.5 tackles for loss. For the season, Coleman has recorded 25 solo tackles, 25 assists, 2.5 sacks, and averages 7.1 tackles per game.

The teams are no strangers this season. They met in Week 3, where Mt. SAC rallied from a 13-0 deficit to notch a 37-27 victory, scoring four touchdowns in under nine minutes to seize control of the game.

Saturday's contest marks the 43rd all-time meeting between the programs, with Mt. SAC leading the series 23-19 and winning the last three matchups since 2022. It will also be their second consecutive postseason meeting, as Mt. SAC defeated El Camino 48-24 in last year's SCFA Semifinals.

Two powerhouse programs with elite student-athletes now collide in a win-or-go-home showdown, each looking to advance deeper into the 3C2A postseason.

The winner will move on to face No. 2 seed Saddleback (9-1) on Saturday, November 29 in Mission Viejo for the SCFA Semifinals.
