Walnut, Calif. – Shaking off last week's tough loss to Citrus, the Mt. SAC Football Team came out stronger than ever, overpowering Moorpark College 61-12 on a soggy Saturday night at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. The 61-point outburst marked the Mounties' highest-scoring game of the season so far. With the win, Mt. SAC improves to 4–1 overall and 1–1 in conference play, while the Raiders drop to 1–4 (0–2).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game got off to a chaotic start with back-to-back fumbles. Mt. SAC fumbled on the very first play from scrimmage, giving Moorpark excellent field position. But the Raiders gave it right back just seconds later on their first offensive snap. The Mounties capitalized immediately, marching 55 yards in four plays and capping the drive with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Daunte Bell to Elijah Crook. From there, Mt. SAC never looked back, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter alone, including a 5-yard carry from running back Aiden Ramos and a lightning-quick one-play, 61-yard bomb from Hunter Herrera to Devon Anderson.

Mt. SAC's offensive barrage continued into the second quarter, as Ramos punched in two more touchdowns, giving him three scores on the night. The defense made its presence felt as well—defensive back Brandyn Wetherspoon jumped a route and returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown, extending the lead to 35–0.

Moorpark finally broke through in the second quarter, as quarterback Dylan Hassid connected with Angel Urban on a 5-yard touchdown to cap off an 80-yard drive—the Raiders' most efficient offensive series of the night. But Mt. SAC wasted no time regaining control, responding with two more scores before halftime, including a 33-yard blocked punt return for a touchdown by Daylon Storey. Moorpark managed a rare spark just before the break, returning a blocked extra point 97 yards for two points, but still entered halftime trailing 47–9.

Though the third quarter went scoreless, Mt. SAC closed out the game strong as a steady drizzle started to fall over Hilmer Lodge Stadium. With a commanding lead in hand, Head Coach Bob Jastrab turned to his bench—and the next wave of Mounties delivered. Raysean Joseph punched in a short rushing touchdown, and wide receiver Jayden Nolen hauled in a 15-yard score from backup quarterback Eric Najarro, who finished an efficient 5-of-6 passing in relief. Meanwhile, the Mt. SAC defense never let up, overwhelming Moorpark's offense with eight sacks for a loss of 44 yards and two interceptions.

Moorpark's only points of the second half came on a 35-yard field goal by Valentino Lara in the fourth quarter, but the Raiders struggled to find any offensive rhythm throughout the night. They were limited to just 53 rushing yards and managed to convert only 2 of 14 third-down attempts against the Mounties' relentless pressure.
