Walnut, Calif. – In a tightly contested matchup under the lights at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, the Mt. SAC Football Team edged out San Diego Mesa in a 21-18 victory to remain unbeaten at 2-0. The Mounties leaned on a dominant ground game, while the Olympians countered with explosive plays through the air.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It took just 12 seconds for San Diego Mesa to light up the scoreboard as Reggie Johnson connected with Aleonte Logan on an 83-yard bomb on the game's first play. The Olympians set the tone with a bold, vertical attack and led 7-0 early.

Mt. SAC responded with a 10-play, 70-yard drive capped by Aiden Ramos' first of three touchdowns on the night — a 10-yard run that tied the game 7-7 in the second quarter.

Mesa regained the lead before halftime with a 42-yard field goal from Joshua Hossmann Lees, making it 10-7 at the break.

In the second half, Mt. SAC leaned heavily on Ramos, who found the end zone twice more — a 2-yard run in the third quarter and a 1-yard plunge late in the fourth — to give the Mounties a 21-10 lead with under two minutes remaining.

On the very next play from scrimmage, Reggie Johnson launched another deep strike, this time to Jay Porter for 75 yards. Aleonte Logan then added a successful 2-point conversion pass to bring Mesa within 3, 21-18, with just 1:48 left. However, the Mounties held strong and closed out the game with a win.

Quarterback Hunter Herrera managed the offense with poise, finishing 22-of-36 for 203 yards and no turnovers.

Mt. SAC's defense delivered several clutch plays, forcing two interceptions and recording three sacks. Blake Hiligh and Kanyee Childress each came up with key picks, while David Medellin, Jeremiah Faustin, and Kirikiti Maileoi contributed sacks to help stall Mesa's offensive momentum.

The Olympian defense was led by Joseph Matthews (9 tackles) and Marek Wojno (8 tackles, 0.5 TFL). The unit had 9 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 4 pass breakups.
