(Walnut, CA) Mt. San Antonio College remained unbeaten this season, handing visiting Allan Hancock College (1-2) a 42-21 non-conference defeat on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Down 14-0 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs cut the Mounties' (3-0) lead to seven with a touchdown early in the second. Mt. SAC dominated from there, running off 21 points to take a 35-14 lead into the half.
Unlike the first half, the second half was a low-scoring affair as the teams posted a touchdown each to account for the game's final tally.
The Mounties compiled 248 yards rushing, led by Nicholas Floyd (eight carries, 139 yards, TD). and Isaiah Dickerson (eight carries, 43 yards, TD). In addition, De'shon Thompson (one carry, four yards) scored a touchdown on the ground for Mt. SAC, while teammate Alex Flores (three carries, 17 yards) scored two.
Flores also threw for 185 yards on 14-of-21 passing. Sean Jastrab (3-5, 42 yards) threw the Mounties' only touchdown pass of the night, a 15-yard play to Anthony Felton (two catches, 17 yards) late in the third quarter.
Top receivers for Mt. SAC included Samuel Green (three catches, 73 yards), Tremont Brewer (four catches, 58 yards) and Floyd (four catches, 33 yards).
Juan Salas (nine tackles, six solo), Katin Surprenant (seven tackles, two solo), Shamar Hawkins (six tackles, three solo), Julien Lopez (five tackles, two solo), Kanalu Catrett (five tackles, one solo) and Xavier Pulea (four tackles, two solo) led the Mountie defense, which held AHC to 287 yards of total offense (90 passing, 197 rushing). Mt. SAC compiled 475 yards of total offense on the night (227 passing, 248 rushing).
Next up, the Mounties open their National-Central Conference schedule on the road at Citrus College (3-0) on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m.
