Mt. SAC Football's Late Score Seals Come-From-Behind Victory at El Camino

(Torrance, CA) Trailing host El Camino College, 40-35, late in the fourth quarter, Mt. SAC (5-2, 2-0) scored on a two-yard run by Malaki Thompson with six seconds to play to put the Mounties up, 41-40. Thompson converted the two-point conversion on another run to give the visitors a 43-40 lead and seal the National Conference Central Division win on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (5-2, 1-1) never trailed the entire game until Malaki's winning score.

Mt. SAC's Rachaad White led all rushers with 121 yards on 15 carries, scoring two touchdowns on 11 and 47 yard runs. He also scored on a 21-yard pass play from Zach Rangel (24-41, 346 yards, three TDs, one INT).

Jonathan Schofield had 208 yards on 10 receptions for the Mounties, scoring twice on 39 and 29 yard tosses from Rangel. Sean Bowden accounted for nine catches for 83 yards in the winning effort.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Tyrin Brooks and lineman Maurice Lotovale each had a sack for Mt. SAC. Brooks also led the team in tackles with 13, nine of them solo, while teammate Connor Helsius racked up 10 tackles, seven of which were solo.

El Camino racked up 490 yards of total offense (367 pass, 123 rush) to the Mounties' 481 yards (346 pass, 135 rush) on 31 more plays than Mt. SAC.

Next up for the Mounties is an National Division Central League game at Cerritos College (4-2, 0-1) on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.
