Scott Zine joined the Mounties Baseball Program at Mt. San Antonio College in 2016 as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. In 2025, Zine helped lead the Mounties to a historic season—capturing the 3C2A State Championship for the first time in 60 years. The team finished with an impressive 45–6 overall record and a 22–2 mark in South Coast Conference play, earning both the conference title and the state crown.
Since joining Mt. SAC, Zine has been a driving force in the program’s success, assembling recruiting classes that also powered the Mounties to South Coast Conference Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2022, along with a 2018 State Championship appearance.
He has played a vital role in the development of numerous standout players, including several Players of the Year, All-Conference, All-State, and All-American selections. Zine has helped over 150 student-athletes move on to play at NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA institutions, and has contributed to the progression of over 75 players to professional baseball—including MLB All-Star Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians.
Prior to Mt. SAC, Zine served as an assistant coach at Pomona-Pitzer College (2016), where he coached infielders, served as hitting coach, and led recruiting efforts. His high school coaching experience includes head varsity roles at Villa Park High School (2010–2013) and Sunny Hills High School (2009–2010), as well as assistant positions at Corona High School (2014–2015) and Laguna Beach High School (2007–2009).
During the summers, Zine coached in collegiate summer leagues with the Cowlitz Black Bears (West Coast League, 2013–2015) and the Urban Youth Academy Barons (California Collegiate League, 2010–2012), working with high-level college prospects.
As a player, Zine starred as an outfielder at Villa Park High School, earning All-CIF honors and helping the team win its first CIF Championship in 2000. He continued his playing career at Irvine Valley College where he earned All-Orange Empire Conference honors, followed by Mt. SAC where he earned All-South Coast Conference, and Chapman University, where he helped lead the Panthers to a 2005 West Region Championship and a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Division III College World Series. That same season, he hit .304 and earned All-American and All-West Region honors.
Zine earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Chapman University and a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University. He is currently a professor in the Kinesiology Department at Mt. SAC and works with the Mt. SAC Foundation for Athletics Development. He also serves as a full-time professor at Community Christian College, teaching Sports Management and Physical Education.
A native of Orange, California, Coach Zine now lives in Chino Hills with his wife Cortlin and their twins, Jett and Lane.
