Scott Zine began his tenure with the Mounties Baseball Program as an Assistant Coach and the Recruiting Coordinator in 2015. While at Mt. SAC Coach Zine has put together the recruiting classes that won Back to Back to Back South Conference Championships in 2018,19, 22 and a 2018 State Championship appearance. Zine has played a huge role in the development of numerous, Players of the Year, All-Conference, All-State and All-American selections while helping over 130 Mounties matriculate and move onto NCAA Division 1,2,3 and NAIA Institutions.  

Prior to arriving at Mt. SAC, Zine served one season (2016) as an assistant coach at Pomona-Pitzer College, where he worked with the infielders and also served as the teams hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.  He has also served as assistant varsity coach at Corona High School (2014-15) and as a head varsity coach at Villa Park High School (2010-13) and at Sunny Hills High School (2009-10). Prior to Sunny Hills Zine coached at Laguna Beach High School (2007-09).

Zine has also spent his summers coaching in collegiate development leagues with the Cowlitz Blackbears (Longview, WA) of the West Coast League (2013-15) and with the Urban Youth Academy Barons (Compton, CA) of the California Collegiate League (2010-12).

Zine has helped matriculate over 200 Student-Athletes to the NCAA and NAIA levels on scholarship and has played a part in the development of over 75 players who have continued on to play professional baseball. Most notably Shane Beiber of the Cleveland Indians.   

He is a graduate of Villa Park High School where he was an All-CIF Outfielder and a member of the schools’ first CIF Championship team in 2000.  Zine first attended Irvine Valley College earning All-Orange Empire Conference Honors and then transferred to Mt. SAC, where he earned All-South Coast Conference Honors.  He continued his education at Chapman University where he helped lead his team to the 2005 West Region Championship (NCAA D3) and a fifth-place finish at the 2005 NCAA Division III College World Series.  In 2005, Zine batted .304 and earned All-West Region and All-American Honors for the Panthers.

Zine earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Chapman University and his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.  He is currently a professor at Mt. SAC where he teaches in the Kinesiology Department and works with the Mt. SAC Foundation for Athletics Development. He also teaches College 1 Seminar at Pasadena City College and teaches Sports Management and Physical Education at Community Christian College.

Zine grew up In Orange (CA) and currently resides in Chino Hills with his wife Cortlin and 3-year-old twins, Jett and Lane.
