Serving as the programs recruiting coordinator and guard development, Coach Johnson enters his first official season (2021-2022) with the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Team after a cancelled 2020-2021 season due to CoVID pandemic.  Johnson was previously at El Camino College where he produced two all-conference guards (2018) and served as an assistant coach, academic coordinator and headed up player development. 

Johnson is well known in the travel ball circuit as a coach with Prodigy Athletic Institute, where he currently serves as head coach and recruiting coordinator.  One of the top independent travel programs in the country, Prodigy Athletic Institute was founded by former USC and Louisville guard Cameron Murray and his brother, NBA veteran and UCLA legend, Tracy Murray. 

Prior to El Camino College, Johnson coached at Bishop Alemany High School where he produced two All-CIF selections, three Mission League selections and a 3.0+ team GPA in 2017. 

Johnson began his coaching career as an assistant women’s basketball coach, player development and academic coordinator at Concordia University-Irvine.  At Concordia, he produced an all-conference player and seven all-conference academic selections in 2015.

Johnson was an outstanding guard at Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, CA) where he lead his team to two conference tournament championships and a NAIA National Championship runner-up finish in 2010.  He earned All-Golden State Conference (2010 & 2011) and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention (2011) honors during his tenure (2008-2012) with the Cougars.  

Johnson earned his Bachelor's Degree in Media Studies from Azusa Pacific University.  He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Athletic Administration (2016) and a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science (2019), both from Concordia University.
