Veteran coach Lee Shiomoto currently serves as the Head Coach for both the Men's and Women's Tennis Teams at Mt. San Antonio College, where he has established a strong reputation for developing competitive, championship-caliber programs at the community college level.
Under his leadership, the Mt. SAC Women’s Tennis Team has captured back-to-back South Coast Conference Championships in 2024 and 2025. Shiomoto was named SCC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year in both seasons. He coached standout athletes Julianna Vich and Paige Valenzuela to consecutive 3C2A Doubles State Championships, while Vich earned SCC Player of the Year honors in both years—highlighting the program’s elite status under his guidance.
On the men’s side, Shiomoto led the team to a perfect 9-0 record and the 2024 Inland Empire Athletic Conference Championship, earning him Inland Empire Athletic Conference Men’s Coach of the Year. His ability to build successful teams on both the men's and women's sides reflects his deep knowledge of the sport and consistent ability to develop talent.
Before joining Mt. SAC, Shiomoto spent 17 years leading the boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity tennis programs at Walnut High School. During his tenure, the Mustangs captured 10 consecutive undefeated Hacienda League titles. His teams made multiple postseason runs, including CIF Finals appearances in 2004 (Girls Division IV) and 2016 (Girls Division III), and a CIF Division II semifinal appearance with the boys' team in 2019. In 2006, he was named East San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year in recognition of his success and leadership.
Beyond tennis, Shiomoto served the Walnut Unified School District for over 30 years, primarily as a physical education teacher and coach at Suzanne Middle School. Over the years, he coached multiple sports and served as Athletics Director, mentoring countless student-athletes.
Shiomoto earned his bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from Cal Poly Pomona. He is happily married and the proud father of four children. Away from the court, he enjoys golfing and traveling. With decades of experience and a proven record of success, Shiomoto continues to elevate Mt. SAC’s tennis programs with passion, professionalism, and purpose.
