John Bolton enters his third season with the Mounties as an assistant coach, working primarily with the sprinters and relay teams.

In 2016, Bolton literally dominated the men's sprints at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships.  His student-athletes scored an incredible 68 points, capturing championships in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4X100 meter relay and 4X400 meter relay.  He also produced CCCAA State Athlete of Year (all-sports), Cravon Gillespie, who captured the 100 meters, 200 meters and was a member of the winning 4X100 meter relay team.  Gillespie ran the 11th fastest time in the nation (overall) this season in the 200 meters, at 20.20 and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials.  For his efforts, Bolton was named the South Coast Conference and 5CTCA State Track and Field Asssistant Coach of the Year.

Bolton has over 10 years of experience teaching and enhancing an athlete’s running speed.  He spent the past 2 seasons at Fullerton College, where he turned the Hornets in a sprinting power with 2 Orange Empire Conference Champions and sprinters qualifying to the CCCAA State Championships in back to back years.  He also help guide the careers of CCCAA State Champion Jumpers, L.V. Johnson and Cheyenne Thompson.

Prior to Fullerton College, Bolton coached at Los Angeles Southwest College, Dominguez High School and with his company B.S.D. (Bolton Speed Development).

Bolton graduated from Compton High School, before attending Long Beach City College and Cal State Fullerton.  An outstanding sprinter, he was a California Community College State and Big West Conference Finalist.  He holds a personal best in the 100 meters of 10.54 and 39.63 in the 4X100M Relay. 

Bolton holds a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.  A native of Compton, Bolton currently resides in Pomona, with his wife Stephanie and son Jamari.
