Adam Roth brings sixteen years of water polo coaching experience to Mt. SAC.  Roth began coaching at his alma mater, Temple City High School, in 2001 with his brother Chuckie Roth.  Together, they led the boys and girls teams for three seasons.  During that time, the Rams won back-to-back CIF Championships in 2003 and 2004. Roth continued as the head coach at Temple City High School from 2005-2007, before moving on to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.  In his tenure at Temple City, Coach Roth’s teams were undefeated in league competition and he was selected as a Pasadena Star News Coach of the Year in 2006.

Since 2007, Coach Roth has been a head coach and program director at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.  Initially hired as the girls’ head coach, Adam was responsible for increasing program enrollment and developing competitive teams at all age groups.  Within three years, he had grown the program from an initial enrollment of 12 players to more than 100.

In 2014, Roth became the program director of Rose Bowl Water Polo.  In that same year, his 18U girls team won the program’s first national championship and 13 girls across age groups had been selected to National Team rosters.  Since 2014, Rose Bowl has won 5 National Championships, including a sweep of Champions Cup in fall 2016 by the boys and girls teams.

In addition to directing the Rose Bowl Water Polo Club, Roth has served as a National Team Coach and ODP zone coach since 2009.  Initially selected as the Coastal Zone Development Head Coach, Adam was later promoted to Development National Team Assistant Coach in 2011 before becoming the Development National Team Head Coach from 2012-2014 and the Cadet National Team Assistant Coach in 2015.

Roth has been involved in area aquatics since 1981.  He began as a competitive swimmer at Arcadia Riptides before continuing on to compete at Industry Hills and Rose Bowl in the early 90s. Roth began in water polo at Temple City High School.  After graduating in 1995, he competed at Citrus College from 1995-1997 and UCSB from 1997-1999.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from UCSB, an MFA in Television/Digital Production from Loyola Marymount University, and a MS Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. Roth resides in Monrovia with his wife, Melinda, and his two daughters, Stella August and Renly Truck.
