Mt. SAC Athletics Program Triumphs Again, Securing the Daktronics Cup Championship

(CLEVELAND) For an impressive tenth consecutive time, the Mt. SAC Athletics Program has once again emerged victorious, claiming the highly coveted Daktronics Cup (State Association) Championship. This remarkable achievement solidifies their position as the premier community college athletics program among California, Oregon, and Washington community colleges. The National Alliance of Two-Year Collegiate Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) presented this prestigious award to Mt. SAC, recognizing their consistent dominance in this division. Having won an astounding 12 out of 19 titles since its establishment in the 2003-2004 season.

In addition to their Daktronics Cup success, the Mounties secured an impressive second place in the final Learfield Cup Championship standings, falling only 8 points short of the top position. This accolade honors the nation's premier overall 2-year collegiate athletics program, further solidifying Mt. SAC's reputation as an athletic powerhouse.

The Mounties achieved their exceptional score of 180.5 points at the state championships, marking the second-highest score in the history of the Daktronics Cup. Sierra College, the runner-up, trailed by a margin of 14 points with a total of 166 points, while Orange Coast College secured third place with 154.5 points. Mt. SAC now holds the distinction of claiming eight out of the top ten highest scores ever achieved in the Daktronics Cup, including the top five scores.

Throughout the season, the Mounties displayed remarkable success in various sports. They clinched state championships in Men's and Women's Cross Country, as well as Men's and Women's Track & Field. Moreover, they achieved top-three finishes in Men's Soccer (2nd place, 19 points), Wrestling (2nd place, 19 points), and Men's Swimming (3rd place, 18 points) at the state championships. Other teams that contributed to the Mounties' impressive NATYCAA Cup point total included Women's Softball (15.5 points), Women's Basketball (14.5 points), and Women's Soccer (14.5 points).

With their continued success and unwavering commitment to excellence, Mt. SAC Athletics Program has firmly established itself as one of the best in community college athletics. This remarkable achievement serves as a testament to the dedication and talent of the athletes, coaches, and staff who make up this exceptional program.
