Mt. SAC Women’s Cross Country Team Captures Fifth Straight South Coast Conference Title

Walnut, Calif. – After reigning supreme at the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, the Mounties' Women's Cross Country Team did it again, dominating the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday, October 31, to capture their fifth consecutive SCC title. Back on their familiar home course, the ladies navigated every hill and curve with confidence, putting together a commanding team performance. Mt. SAC posted a team score of 35, with Long Beach in second at 90 and Cerritos close behind at 91. The women's 5k featured 53 runners from the seven SCC schools, but the Mounties ran like they were in a league of their own.

The team finished with a combined time of 1:37:08, averaging 19:26 per runner and a 6:16 mile pace, with 1:32 separating the top five scorers.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Reyes led the way once again, finishing second overall in 18:57.4, followed closely by teammate Casey McConn, who placed third in 18:58.2. Aariana Amezcua secured seventh (19:18.2), Jasmine Brandyberry came in eighth (19:24.7), and Tesoro De La Cerra-Martinez rounded out the scoring five with a 15th-place finish (20:29.1).

Reyes, McConn, and Amezcua earned All-SCC First Team honors, while Brandyberry was named Second Team.
