Mounties Finish Top 5 in Deep Field at UC Riverside

Riverside, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country team delivered a strong performance at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 27, finishing 5th overall out of 39 competing teams. The meet featured a highly competitive field of 254 runners in the 5K race.

The Mounties clocked a total team time of 1:33:08, averaging 18:38 per runner with a consistent 6:00 mile pace. Demonstrating strong pack running, the team posted a 53-second gap between their first and fifth finishers. The team's finish places were 19, 21, 31, 38, and 86, with supporting finishes at 100 and 153. In terms of scoring position, which factors only runners from scoring teams, Mt. SAC's top five contributed in 15th, 17th, 23rd, 28th, and 59th place respectively, for a total of 142 points.

The Mounties showed impressive progression throughout the race. At the first split, they were in 11th place with 295 points, but moved up to 5th by the second split with 156 points. They held strong through the finish, maintaining 5th overall with 142 points.

Leading the way for Mt. SAC was Casey McConn, who finished 19th overall with a time of 18:20.8. Close behind was Kaitlyn Reyes in 21st at 18:23.2, followed by Sophia Ebiner in 31st with a time of 18:33.0. Jessica Vigil was next in 38th, finishing in 18:37.8. Jasmine Brandyberry completed the scoring five, finishing 86th and running 19:13.0. Also competing for the Mounties were Amber Rios, who finished 100th in 19:22.5, and Rebekah Cueva, in 153rd with a time of 20:10.1.

Next up, Mt. SAC will head south to compete in the Manny Bautista Invitational, hosted by San Diego Mesa College on Friday, October 10.
