
San Marcos, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team turned in a solid team performance, finishing 5th overall in the 6K race at the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge on Saturday, September 13. Facing a competitive field of four-year programs, the Mounties recorded a team score of 148 points, with a total team time of 1:50:55. Their average time was 22:11, running at an average mile pace of 5:57.
Cal Poly Pomona captured first place with 33 points, followed by Point Loma (38 points) and Pomona-Pitzer (100 points). San Marcos came in fourth with 115 points, just ahead of Mt. SAC.
Casey McConn paced the Mounties with a 21st-place finish, clocking in at 21:54.4. She was followed by a tight trio of finishers: Kaitlyn Reyes (29th, 22:04.0), Jessica Vigil (30th, 22:04.1), and Sophia Ebiner (31st, 22:06.1), all contributing critical points to Mt. SAC's team score. Jocelyn Izarraraz-Rodriguez completed the Mounties' top five with a 54th-place finish in 22:46.2. Also contributing to the team's depth were Jasmine Brandyberry (69th, 23:08.1) and Rebekah Cueva (96th, 24:07.6).
