Mt. SAC Women’s Cross Country Team Takes Second at SoCal Regionals, Preps for State Championship

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team finished in second place at the SoCal Regionals on Friday, November 8, at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga. In a competitive field of 146 runners, the Mounties completed the challenging 3-mile course with a combined time of 1:42:43, averaging 20:32 per runner and earning a team score of 114 points.

San Diego Mesa College claimed first place with a total time of 1:38:40 and a team score of 54, while Moorpark College rounded out the top three with a time of 1:45:22 and a score of 180.

Leading the way for the Mounties was Ava Cornell, who finished 14th overall with a time of 19:57.3. Kaitlyn Reyes followed in 18th place, crossing the line at 20:17.9, while Tigist Bergman placed 24th with a time of 20:41.9. Jasmine Brandyberry finished 28th in 20:51.7, Yadira Arnold took 30th at 20:54.2, and Denise Villarreal came in 32nd with a time of 21:05.9. Arielle Mckenzie rounded out the top finishers for Mt. SAC, placing 70th with a time of 22:25.1.

With the season winding down, the Mounties are now focused on their final race—the 3C2A State Championship—scheduled for Saturday, November 23, at Woodward Park in Fresno. The team is aiming to secure its fourth consecutive state title, having won the championship for the past three years. Currently ranked No. 2 in the state, Mt. SAC will face off against top-ranked San Diego Mesa in what promises to be an exciting showdown for the title. Stay tuned!
