Mt. SAC Women’s Cross Country Team Takes on Cougar Challenge

The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team demonstrated their skill and determination at the Cougar Challenge held on Saturday, September 28. Competing against top programs from across the state, the team finished 13th overall, with a total time of 1:58:27 and a score of 337 in the 6k race.

Blazing the trail for the Mounties was Ava Cornell, who finished strong with a time of 22:54,7, placing 38th overall. Following her was Tigist Bergman, clocking in at 23:18.5 for a 60th place finish. Kaitlyn Reyes came in at 23:43.8, securing 71st place, while Yadira Arnold finished 82nd with a time of 24:12.0. Maya Estrada-Garcia and Rebekah Cueva raced closely together, finishing 86th and 87th with times of 24:18.5 and 24:22.3, respectively. Jasmine Brandyberry rounded out the team with a time of 24:28.5 for 89th place.

The competition was fierce, with Point Loma taking first overall with a time of 1:49:07, followed by San Marcos and Salt Lake. This experience will be invaluable as the team continues its season.

Next up, the team will compete in the rescheduled So Cal Preview, hosted by Chaffey College, on Friday, October 4.
