Mt. SAC Women Place Fifth in Willamette Cross Country Invitational

(Salem, OR) The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country team traveled to Salem, Oregon and came home with a fifth place finish in the 43rd Annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem, Oregon on Saturday September 30.

The women runners placed fifth overall in the 5K race but were the top community college among the 141 runners from 17 schools competing.

The Mounties top placer was Teresa Castillo. The sophomore, who recently placed third in the Golden West Invitational, finished with a time of 18:26.1.

Castillo was followed by sophomore Maria Castello, 23rd (18:57.6), freshman Oliva Valderama, 26th (19:08.4), sophomore Hannah Batchelor, 37th (19:35.0) and freshman Alyssa Jaurique, 51st (20:15.5).

The Mountie women, along with the men's team, will head north again this Saturday October 7 to San Luis Obispo for the Tour de Cuesta.
