Mounties Shine in Inaugural Mt. SAC Women’s Wrestling Open, Claim Second Place

Walnut, Calif. – In a historic debut at the Mt. SAC Women's Wrestling Open, the Mounties earned an impressive second-place finish out of eight teams, earning 282 points. Cerritos College took the top spot with 345 points, while Palomar College secured third place with 63 points.

The Mounties showcased exceptional talent, with standout performances across various weight classes. First-place finishes came from Mackenzie Muniz (117 lbs.), Leilani Lazaro (124 lbs.), Tehya Ledesma (138 lbs.), and Alexis Jimenez (145 lbs.).

Additionally, Jenelle Gozun (103 lbs.) and Zitlali Sarmiento (131 lbs.) claimed second-place honors. Anika Del Castillo (110 lbs.), Kasandra Villarreal (160 lbs.), and Brianna Macias (207 lbs.) each secured fourth in their respective weight classes.

Berenice Chihuahua (131 lbs.), Manaia Tofilau (138 lbs.), and Nyomi Mesa (160 lbs.) earned fifth-place finishes, while Andrea Vidrio Majano (160 lbs.) rounded out the Mounties' strong showing with a sixth-place finish.

The Mounties are on the road for a conference match against Palomar on Wednesday, April 2.
