Men, Women Sweep L.A. Trade Tech in Conference Games

(WALNUT) The Mt. SAC Men and Women water polo teams completed a two-game sweep Monday afternoon at the Marie T. Mills Aquatic Center to remain undefeated in the South Coast Conference.

In the early game, the Mountie women defeated L.A. Trade Tech, 22-1, and the men completed the sweep with a 23-2 victory.

The men (12-2) remain tied with Cerritos and Long Beach City College with 3-0 records, while the women (9-4) are tied with 5-0 records.

The women had a balanced scoring attack as 12 players scored with freshman attacker Brooke Allen (Rowland HS) leading the charge with four goals. Seven players had two goals each with freshman attacker Hannah Rueter (West Covina HS) adding six assists. Allen led the way with five steals.

The men equaled the women with balanced scoring with 10 players getting in on the action.

Freshman attacker Nicholas Perez (Upland HS) led the Mounties with five goals, while freshman attacker Adrian Hernandez (Chino HS) had four. Two players, Scott McDill (Walnut HS, Air Force Academy) and Jeffrey Silverberg (Walnut HS) had three apiece.

The women started fast with 11 goals in the opening quarter with Allen leading the way with three goals.

The men also had a big first half with seven and nine goals respectively in the first and second periods.

McDill and Perez each had a hat trick in the first half with three goals each.

Last weekend the men traveled up north and played in the American River College tournament and won two games and lost one and will prepare for their next road trip later this week to the East Coast.

Both the men and women will continue with SCC action on Wednesday against Chaffey College.
