Walnut, Calif. – The Mounties kept the momentum alive on Tuesday night, taking down No. 10 Ventura, 3–1, in round two of the 3C2A SoCal Regionals. With the win, No. 7 Mt. SAC advances to the SoCal Regional Finals and pushes its impressive winning streak to 13 matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

Set 1: Mt. SAC 25, Ventura 10

The Mounties cruised through the opening set as Ventura struggled with its own errors, recording just one kill and nine attack errors. Mt. SAC had eight kills—three from Eva Fisher—but the pace of the set was driven largely by Ventura's mistakes.

Set 2: Ventura 26, Mt. SAC 24  

The Pirates' lone set win came in extra points and was tightly contested from start to finish. Ventura posted 14 kills with four errors for a .250 hitting percentage, while Mt. SAC had 15 kills and four errors for a .262 percentage. Key swings by Emma Carson, Kayla Staveley, Sydney Valentine, and Tatum Hardaway kept the Mounties in contention.

Mt. SAC held a slight edge for most of the frame until Ventura took a 22–21 lead on a kill by Madison Mierau. After the Pirates reached set point at 24–21, the Mounties battled back to tie it at 24–24 thanks to another Carson kill. But back-to-back kills from Mierau and Josephine Rausch secured the set for Ventura and evened the match at 1–1.

Set 3: Mt. SAC 25, Ventura 21

The third set remained close, but Mt. SAC executed more efficiently, tallying 16 kills and hitting .275 compared to Ventura's 11 kills and .128 percentage. Carson led the Mounties with five kills, while Rausch and Callie Cahill carried the offensive load for the Pirates. Fisher made an impact defensively with key touches at the net to slow Ventura's attack.

Set 4: Mt. SAC 25, Ventura 18

The fourth and final set belonged to the Mounties, notching 16 kills compared to Ventura's 9.  Setter Isabella Ross guided the offense effectively, helping the Mounties spread out their attack. Three consecutive kills by Valentine widened the gap to 22–14, giving Mt. SAC a comfortable lead. Cahill answered with back-to-back kills for Ventura, but Carson—who led all players in kills—closed out the match with the final swing, sending the Mounties to the next round.
