Irvine, Calif. – After suffering hard-fought back-to-back losses to San Diego Mesa on August 23 and Santa Monica on August 27, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team bounced back in a big way with a 3-1 road victory over Irvine Valley College on Wednesday, September 3. The win improves the Mounties' record to 3-2 and places them at No. 13 in the first top-25 ranking of the 2025 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Mt. SAC came out strong in the first set, dominating 25-10 with nine kills on 16 attempts and a sharp .500 hitting percentage. Irvine Valley responded in the second set with a 25-16 win, taking advantage of the Mounties' struggles on offense, including a -.091 hitting percentage—Mt. SAC's only setback of the night.
The momentum swung back in Mt. SAC's favor in the third set, where they recorded 16 kills en route to a 25-14 win. The fourth and final set was the tightest of the match, but the Mounties held strong to close it out 25-22 and secure the road win.
Outside hitters Emma Carson and Sydney Valentine led the offensive attack with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while also contributing 12 digs each on defense. Setter Morgan Wilson kept the offense flowing with 41 assists, running a fast-paced attack that challenged Irvine Valley's defense.
Libero Mayah Tiscareno anchored the back row with a team-high 19 digs, and middle blocker Eva Fisher added five kills along with two solo blocks and a block assist to round out a strong two-way performance.
In total, the Mounties posted 41 kills, 62 digs, and 8 blocks (2 solo, 6 assisted) to take down the Lasers on their home court.
