Whittier, Calif. – On Friday, November 1, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team extended their impressive winning streak, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Rio Hondo for their sixth consecutive win. The Mounties secured the match with scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-13, proving their superiority in this crucial conference showdown.
With this win, the Mounties improve to 16-6 overall and maintain an undefeated 4-0 record in conference play, while Rio Hondo drops to 3-16 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
Spearheading the offense for Mt. SAC was Jordyn Romano, who recorded 12 kills on 30 attempts, posting an impressive .450 hitting percentage. Outside hitters Emma Carson and Candace Ceballos each contributed eight kills and 14 digs. Itzel Aguayo added six kills and four blocks, while Kaylin Mendoza chipped in with two kills and a block, and Rhiannon Rodriguez recorded three kills and a block.
Setters Isabella Ross and Eva Becerra each delivered 15 assists, with Ross adding six digs and Becerra contributing two service aces. As a team, the Mounties totaled 41 kills on 112 attempts for a .214 hitting percentage, compared to Rio Hondo's 22 kills on 105 attempts, resulting in a .038 hitting percentage.
Next up, the Mounties will face off against conference rival Pasadena City College on Wednesday, November 6, at 6:00 PM. Pasadena holds a 13-12 overall record and a 4-1 conference play. Currently, Mt. SAC is ranked No. 14 in the state and No. 9 in Southern California, while Pasadena is ranked No. 21 in the state and No. 13 in Southern California.
