The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team delivered a strong performance against Rio Hondo on Friday, October 4, securing a decisive 3-0 victory. The Mounties took control early, winning the first set 25-13, followed by another impressive showing in the second set with a score of 25-12. The final set concluded with a 25-17 win for Mt. SAC, completing the sweep.
The team showcased their offensive skills, posting an outstanding hitting percentage of .455 compared to Rio Hondo's -.052. The match proved the team's depth, as all members had an opportunity to play, except for Kacey Worcester, who is currently recovering from an injury.
Trinity Gonzales led the Mounties with 11 kills and a remarkable .667 hitting percentage, highlighter her offensive firepower. Jordyn Romano contributed significantly with 12 kills, while Itzel Aguayo added nine kills to solidify the team's strong attack.
Defensively, the Mounties remained resilient, with Emma Carson recording seven digs. Both Mayah Tiscareno and Jeanie Rhodes supported the back row with five digs each.
With this victory, Mt. SAC improves to an overall record of 11-6 and 1-0 in conference play, while Rio Hondo drops to 1-12 overall and 0-1 in conference. The Mounties are ranked No. 6 in Southern California and No. 11 in the state.
Next up, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team will face Pasadena City College, who currently holds an overall record of 8-9, on Wednesday, October 9, at 6:00 PM. This match is part of Mt.
