The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team faced a tough loss on Friday, August 30, as they were defeated by San Diego Mesa College with scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-19. The match, held at Mt. SAC, marked the first loss of the season for the Mounties, brining their season record to 5-1.

San Diego Mesa, the defending state champions, displayed a high level of skill and coordination throughout the match. Despite this setback, the Mounties showed resilience and determination in their performance.

In the opening set, San Diego Mesa quickly established control, taking an early lead and clinching the set with a 25-13 victory. Mt. SAC struggled offensively, recording only 6 kills with a .105 hitting percentage, while their opponents excelled with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

The Mounties made some adjustments in the second set and put up a more competitive performance, losing by a mere six points. The Mounties gave it their all in the third set, but San Diego Mesa's consistent play and strategic execution proved too strong, allowing them to pull ahead and secure the win.

Although the Mounties lost in three straight sets, there were several achievements of note. Middle blocker Jordyn Romano recorded six kills and four blocks, outside hitter Candace Ceballos added four kills, right side hitter Brianna De Jong made an impact with five kills and four digs, and outside hitter Emma Carson recorded three kills and four assists. Setter Eva Becerra impressed with a total of eight assists throughout the match.

The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team is set to rebound as they prepare for their next match on Wednesday, September 4, at home against Glendale College. Come cheer for the Mounties as they look to bounce back from this defeat.
