(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team kept a game ahead of El Camino in the South Coast Conference race with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Pasadena City College on Friday (Oct. 28).
With the win, 26-24, 25-15, 25-17, the Mounties improved to 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference.
That sets up the showdown for first place at El Camino (7-9, 7-2) on Tuesday (Nov. 1).
Angelina Burton and JJ Quarrels (4 Digs) led Mt. SAC with 10 kills each and Allison Whiteman (4 Digs) had nine kills.
Kylie Rhodes (2 Digs, 2 Service Aces) had 15 assists and Capri Salmon (2 Digs, 1 Service Aces) had 13 assists.
Riannel Arevalo (4 A) and Riley DeGroot (4 K, 2 A) led with nine and seven digs, respectively.
PCC only led once early in the first set and tied it later in the set, 24-24, but two errors late by the Lancers gave Mt. SAC the opening set, 26-24.
It was all Mt. SAC in sets two and three, as the Mounties built up a double-digit lead in the second set (19-8) and a nine-point lead (16-7) in the second for the three-set win.
