Los Angeles, Calif. – Competing in a deep and talented field at UCLA's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Meet, the Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field Team battled their way to a 17th-place finish out of 29 teams, tallying 18 points across the two-day event.
Going up against powerhouse programs, the Mounties faced stiff competition as UCLA claimed the team title with 96 points, followed by Cal Berkeley (87.5) and San Diego State (65). Despite the challenge, Mt. SAC delivered standout performances—especially in the distance events.
Sophia Ebiner stole the spotlight with a dominant run in the 10,000 meters, coming from behind to capture first place in an impressive 36:22.50 and giving the Mounties a major highlight on the weekend. Jocelyn Izarraraz-Rodriguez added to the momentum with a strong fourth-place finish in the 1500 meters, crossing the line in 4:51.14.
The Mounties also showed grit in the steeplechase, where Jessica Vigil placed 10th (11:57.72) and Rebekah Cueva followed in 13th (12:28.74), continuing the team's presence in the distance events.
In the field, Miku Yanagawa cleared 13' 0.75" to earn a sixth-place finish in the pole vault, while the javelin duo of Camryn Calderon and Olivia Powers added solid throws with marks of 121' 10" and 118' 10", respectively.
