Mounties Deliver Across the Board at Kamaka Open

Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field Team turned in a well-rounded performance at Hilmer Lodge Stadium during the Kamaka Open, demonstrating depth across sprints, distance, relays, field events, and the multi-events.

On the track, Megan Stauffer was phenomenal in the short sprints with a pair of fourth-place finishes. She clocked 12.36 in the 100 meters and followed with a 25.41 in the 200 meters, continuing to be a key contributor to the Mounties' sprint squad.

In the middle distances, Sophia Ebiner captured third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.60, while Casey McConn matched that finish in the 1500 meters, crossing in 4:47.75. The Mounties' strength in the distance events added valuable momentum throughout the meet.

The 4x100 relay team delivered one of the top performances of the weekend. Italia Garrard, Enessah Hawkins, Soleil Murillo, and Stauffer combined for a second-place finish in 47.63, showcasing strong exchanges and early-season speed.

In the field events, Miku Yanagawa highlighted the competition with a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12' 5.5". Emma Samvelian added points in the same event with a fourth-place clearance of 11' 5.75".

Lindsey Varner placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 35' 4.5", while the javelin duo of Olivia Powers and Camryn Calderon finished third and fifth, respectively, with throws of 127' 10" and 121' 3".

The Mounties also gained valuable experience in the heptathlon, with Hailey Lutz placing eighth overall with 3,100 points. Yaroslava Willard followed in 10th with 2,944 points, and Sascha Obadia finished 11th with 2,769 points, building a strong foundation in the seven-event competition early in the season.
