Riverside, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field Team delivered a balanced and powerful performance at the RCC Early Bird Invitational, finishing second overall with 121 team points in a 12-school field. Cal State San Bernardino claimed the top spot with 127.50 points, while host Riverside City College rounded out the top three with 114.
Mt. SAC set the tone on the track in the 400-meter hurdles, where Nyrah Wyatt raced to a first-place finish in 1:05.75, hitting both 3C2A "A" and "B" standards. Cameron Reyes followed closely behind, taking second in 1:08.82 and securing a "B" standard mark. The momentum continued in the relays, as the 4x400 team of Italia Garrard, Enessah Hawkins, Soleil Murillo, and Megan Stauffer placed second in 4:06.21 while meeting both "A" and "B" standards.
As expected, the distance crew also made its mark. The 4x800 relay team of Kaitlyn Reyes, Sophia Ebiner, Casey Mcconn, and Jasmine Brandyberry captured first place with a time of 9:43.79. In the distance medley relay, Reyes teamed with Kylie Unterkofler, Julissa Jefferson, and Brandyberry to secure second place in 12:53.06, adding valuable points to the team total.
In the field events, the Mounties were strong. Early standouts Miku Yanagawa and Emma Samvelian tied for first and second in the pole vault, both clearing 11' 11.75" while earning "A," "B," and Southern California regional qualifying marks. Natalia Gaitan added a fifth-place finish at 10' 0", also hitting "A" and "B" standards. Lindsey Varner showed versatility with a seventh-place finish in the long jump (17' 4.75") and a first-place leap of 37' 2.5" in the triple jump, meeting both "A" and "B" marks in each.
The throws squad piled on more top finishes. Samvelian placed second in the shot put with a mark of 39' 10", while Olivia Powers rounded out the event victories with a first-place throw of 112' 11" in the javelin, earning both "A" and "B" marks.

The Mounties head back to Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Thursday, February 19 to host the Mt. SAC Kamaka Open. The annual meet pays tribute to former longtime head coach Ron Kamaka, whose leadership and influence helped shape the tradition of Mt. SAC track and field before his passing in 2022.
