(Norwalk, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field team clinched its third consecutive championship and fourth in five competitive seasons at the 3C2A Southern California Regional Championship held on Friday, May 10, at Cerritos College. With this victory, the Mounties are now poised to vie for their third straight 3C2A State title at Saddleback College on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18.
Leading the way was sophomore Summer Stevenson, securing first place in the Triple Jump, along with the 4 x 100 Relay team (Cyvanna Bowen, Catalina Teran, Jordan Garcia, Astrid Teran), also taking the top spot.
Mt. SAC finished with 147 points, with Cerritos coming in 2nd (116) and Riverside City College 3rd (104).
The Mounties had previously clinched the So Cal title in 2018, '22, and '23, showcasing their consistent dominance in the region.
Twenty-two teams competed in the two-day event.
In the pole vault, the Mounties secured second through fifth place, with Astrid Teran in 2nd, Sophia Perez in 3rd, Bailie Horton in 4th, and Shannon Gaitan in 5th.
The 800-meter event saw the Mounties claiming positions two through four, with Kahlai Cruser in 2nd, Yasmeen Delgado in 3rd, and Aariana Amez in 4th.
Exacte Kamba secured second place in the Triple Jump, with Emily Johnson performing well in the Heptathlon, also landing in second place.
