Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field Claims SCC Title Behind Eight First-place Finishes

(Torrance, CA) With 319 points, Mt. San Antonio College took first at the South Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, April 27, at El Camino College. Cerritos College came in second with 242.5 points and Long Beach City College placed third with 112.

In the meet's 20 events, the Mounties took first in eight, second in eight, and third in 11.

First-place finishes included Kahlai Cruser (800 meters), Carlota Roma Rega (400 hurdles), Brenna Butler (3000 steeplechase), Katherine Porter (high jump), Sophia Perez (pole vault), Summer Stevenson (long jump), and Exacte Kamba (triple jump), and the 4x400 relay team (Tatiana Sprock, Cruser, Alyssah Johnson, Yasmeen Delgado).

Kyra Miedecke (javelin), Bailie Horton (pole vault), Gaby Cerrillos (3000 steeplechase),

Emely Gonzalez (400 hurdles), Amaliyah Smith (100 hurdles), Ingrid Tamayo (10,000 meters), Aariana Amezcua (1500 meters), and Delgado (800 meters) accounted for Mt. SAC's second-place finishes.

Taking third for the Mounties were Leila Champion (100 meters, 200 meters), Sprock (400 meters), Amezcua (800 meters), Cassandra Apahidean (1500 meters), Tamayo (5000 meters), Kamba (high jump), Shannon Gaitan (pole vault), Brooke Welliver (discus), Malani Johnson (javelin), and the 4x100 relay team (Sprock, Astrid Teran, Catalina Teran, Champion).
