Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field takes second at SCC Finals

(Norwalk, CA) At the South Coast Conference Finals at Cerritos College on Saturday, April 29, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Track and Field team came in second place with 270 points. The host Falcons came in first with 307.5 points and El Camino College took third with 97.

The day's competition saw the Mounties finish first in 11 events, second in six, and third in six more.

Summer Stevenson (triple jump), Bailie Horton (pole vault), Aaliyah Mendoza (high jump), Karla Galvan (3000 steeplechase), Delayshia Allen (100 hurdles), Claudia Vera (5000 meters, 1500 meters), Trista Michael (800 meters), Tatiana Sprock (400 meters), Jaiden Hill (200 meters), and the 4x400 relay team (Amari Weatherford, Sprock, Charisma Collins, Hill) accounted for Mt. SAC's first-place finishes.

Second-place performances for the Mounties came from Hannah Brown (1500 meters), Cyvanna Bowen (100 hurdles), Faythe Berge (pole vault), Ahnyx Bush (triple jump), Sahria Lepes Sanchez (discus), and the 4x100 relay team (Weatherford, Hill, Bowen, Collins).

McKenna Venegas (long jump), Shannon Gaitan (pole vault), Brenna Butler (3000 steeplechase), Ingrid Tamayo (10,000 meters), Yasmeen Delgado (800 meters), and Hill (100 meters) took third in their events for Mt. SAC.

Noteworthily, Mountie athletes occupied the top two spots in the 1500 meters, the 100 hurdles, the triple jump, and the top three in the pole vault.

Next up for Mt. SAC are the California Community College Athletic Association SoCal Prelims at San Diego Mesa College on Friday, May 5. The SoCal Finals will take place on Friday, May 12, also at SD Mesa.
