(Riverside, CA) The Mt. SAC women's track and field team was represented well at the 2019 Riverside City College Open on Friday, March 15, with top performances by several athletes.
First-place finishes for the Mounties included Terra Valadez (14.47 seconds) in the 100-meter hurdles, Kayla Rodriguez (1:05.51) in the 400-meter hurdles, and Darla Gonzalez (3.96 meters) in the pole vault.
Valadez also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.78, while Amy Campos and Mayara De Souza tied for second in the pole vault at 3.50 meters.
In the 3,000-meter run, Rebecca Ruiz turned in a time of 10:54.48, finishing second in the event.
Mt. SAC's relay teams fared well at the meet, as well. In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Rodriguez, Jasmine Garcia, Maia Harvey, and Valadez turned in a time of 49.19 seconds, good enough for second place. The 4x400-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Valadez, Garcia, and Elizabeth Chidester clocked in at 4:13.15 for a third-place finish.
Garcia and Rodriguez also finished in third and fourth place, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 15.68 and 15.94 seconds, also respectively.
The Mounties will return to action at the UC Riverside Multis on Thursday and Friday, March 21-22, at UC Riverside.
