Several Mountie Women turn in solid performances at Ben Brown Invitational

(Fullerton, CA) Several Mt. SAC men's and women's athletes turned in performances worthy of note at the 2019 Ben Brown Invitational held at Cal State Fullerton on March 8-9.

For the women, Darla Gonzalez took first in the pole vault with a height of 3.85 meters. Amy Campos' vault of 3.4 meters placed her fourth in the event.

Senna Forkner took second in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.51 meters.

Kayla Rodriguez turned in a time of 12.94 seconds, placing her second in the 100 meters. She was also part of the 4x400-meter team with Terra Valadez, Jasmine Garcia, and Elizabeth Chidester which took third with a time of 4:12.08.

On the men's side, Armand Stevens took first place in the 100 meter with a time of 11.09 seconds, while teammate Travion Phillips turned in a time of 50.29 seconds in the 200 meter, good enough for a second-place finish.

Pole vaulters Calvin Oury and Ryan Lopez tied for second place in their event with vaults of 4.35 meters.

David Ripley (6.30 meters) and Robert Taft (6.25 meters) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the long jump.

Javier Sandoval Guzman captured third place in the shot put with a distance of 10.2 meters and fourth place in the discus with a throw of 30.84 meters.

Both teams return to action on Friday, March 15, in the Riverside City College Open.
