Walnut, Calif. – In their third competition of the season, the Mt. SAC Women's Tennis Team earned its first win of the year with an 8–1 victory over Imperial Valley College on Friday, January 30.

The Mounties were dominant in singles play, sweeping all six matches. Mia Vo earned a straight-set win over Haizel Velasquez, 6–1, 6–1, while Sichen Chang followed with a 6–0, 6–1 victory against Brooklyn Sload. In the closest singles matchup of the day, Mireya Moreno battled back to defeat Maya Castro in three sets, 4–6, 7–4, 10–4.

At the No. 4 spot, Danae Marron was awarded the win over Bella Amidon following a retirement with the score at 6–5. Norma Andrade picked up a convincing 6–0, 6–1 win against Rosawa Viramontes in the No. 5 match, and Jancy Meyer was awarded a victory by default at No. 6.

Doubles play rounded out the scoring, with Vo and Chang earning an 8–1 win over Velasquez and Castro. Jancy Meyer and Mireya Moreno fell 8–5 to Imperial Valley's Brooklyn Sload and Bella Amidon, while Marina Soltero and Danae Marron were awarded a win by default in the final doubles pairing.

The Mounties will look to build on their momentum when they travel to Orange Coast College on Tuesday, February 3, for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
