Mt. SAC Women’s Tennis Players Battle Hard at CCCAA Tennis State Championships

(Ojai, CA) - Three individuals from the Mt. San Antonio College women's tennis team made it to the CCCAA Tennis Individual State Championships, a single-elimination tournament held at Ojai, California from April 27th to April 30th. Lydia Jong, Lara Rizkallah, and Jahday Drewery represented the college at the tournament.

Sophomore Lydia Jong, the only player from the team to compete at the state championships last year, won her first match against Hale from City College of San Francisco with a score of 6-3, 6-1. However, she was unable to advance past the second round, losing to Boliscar from Modesto, 6-4, 6-0.

Lara Rizkallah, another sophomore from the team, also gave it her all but couldn't make it past the first round, losing to Nelson of Orange Coast, 6-2, 6-0.

Freshman Jahday Drewery started strong with a win in the first round over Espino of Modesto, 6-2, 6-3. However, her progress was halted as she was swept by Lieb from Ventura College, 6-0, 6-0 in the second round.

Despite the challenges, the Mt. SAC women's tennis players showed tremendous perseverance and played their best tennis at the state championships. They represented their college with pride and determination on the court.

The Mt. SAC women's tennis team looks forward to the next tennis season and is proud of its players for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
