(Walnut, CA) The long, five-year road trip has come to an end for the Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team.
With the completion of the new Mt. SAC state-of-the-art tennis facility, the Mountie women returned home for their first actual on-campus match since April 16, 2016.
In the process, Mt. SAC defeated Mt. San Jacinto, 7-2.
It also is the debut of new tennis coach, Lee Shiomoto, who is also the men's coach.
In actual matches played, the Mounties edged the Eagles 3-2 in singles matches and split 1-1 in doubles.
Mt. SAC No. 1 singles Nicole Escamillo (6-1, 6-1), No. 3 Alejandra Vasquez (6-3, 6-1), and No. 4 Cassandra Paulson (6-4, 6-2) all won in straight sets, while No. 5 Priscilla Pranajasa and No. 6 Rebecca Contreras each won by default.
Mounties No. 2 singles player Priya Singh lost in three sets, 6-1, 6-7, 10-8.
In doubles competition, the Mt. SAC No. 2 doubles team of Vasquez/Paulson won, 8-3, while No. 3 Contreras/Singh won by default and No. 1 Escamillo/Pranajasa lost, 8-4.
Mt. SAC continues its homestand with three consecutive matches – Tuesday, April 20 vs. Santa Monica, Thursday, April 22 vs. Ventura and Thursday, April 29 vs. Mt. San Jacinto.
