Mt. SAC Women’s Swimming Wins 32nd Consecutive SCC Dual Meet; DeAnda, Gamboa Win Three Events

(Walnut, CA) With two overwhelming victories, the Mt. SAC Women's Swimming & Diving Team extended its dual winning streak to 32 in the South Coast Conference Friday (3/22) at the Marie T. Mills Aquatics Complex.

Wins over Chaffey (158-93) and Rio Hondo (188-38) upped the Mounties conference record to 5-0.

Leading the way for the Mounties was Erin DeAnda and Colleen Gamboa with three individual wins, followed by two wins each by Kaitlin Howard and Kiani Lopez.

As a team, the Mounties won 10 out of 12 individual events and both relays against Chaffey.

DeAnda won the 200 Butterfly (2:31.85), 200 Backstroke (2:25.43) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:27.47). The sophomore was also part of the first-place 200 Medley Relay team (2:05.10), which also consisted of Lopez, Howard and Amber Bustamante.

Gamboa finished first in the following events: 100 Free (58.99), 200 Free (2:11.51) and the 500 Free (6:03.86). She was also a part of the 400 Free Relay team (4:10.92), which consisted of Howard, Gamboa, Sarita Quesada and Miranda Silva.

Howard's two individual firsts were in the 100 Back (1:08.55) and the 100 Fly (1:09.25). Lopez finished first in the 100 (1:16.56) and 200 Breaststroke (2:46.06).

Quesada and Silva also placed second in the 1000 Free (13:35.21) and the 50 Free (28.89), respectively, against Chaffey. Their times placed them both ahead of Rio Hondo to complete a sweep of all 14 events against the Roadrunners.

On Saturday (3/23), the Mounties traveled to San Diego Mesa and fell, 132-96.

Mt. SAC will swim in a double-dual Friday (3/29) against East Los Angeles and host Pasadena City College.
