Walnut, Calif. – Three games into the season and the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team is still looking for their first win. But they're not losing either. In fact, they've been consistently dead even – three games, three ties.

Over the weekend, the Mounties hosted the Nike/Azteca Soccer Tournament and walked away with a wild 3-3 draw against Lake Tahoe on Friday, August 29, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Hartnell on Sunday, August 31. Their record now stands at 0-0-3.

GAME 1:

Friday's match against Lake Tahoe was a true testament of the team's endurance and determination.

The Mounties struck early, with Nadine Padilla finding the net in just the second minute off a double assist from Nisa Rueda and Samantha Sanchez. Lake Tahoe answered quickly, with Alyssa Allan scoring ten minutes later to tie the game.

The Coyotes then took the lead with goals from Darleen Minier just before halftime and Emily Brandt in the 71st minute.

Refusing to back down, Mt. SAC mounted a late comeback. Padilla netter her second goal of the match in the 81st minute off an assist from Eden Ramirez and Sanchez. In the 87th minute, Ramirez scored a goal of her own to secure the tie.

Goalkeeper Zanette Gonzalez made four saves on seven shots to help preserve the result.

GAME 2:

Sunday's game against Hartnell College saw temperatures reach the upper 90s, but the ladies fought hard.

Ramirez opened the scoring early in the second half, finishing a pass from Padilla in the 47th minute. It looked like the Mounties might notch their first win of the season, but Hartnell found the back of the net in the final moments. The Panthers equalized in the 90th minute, forcing Mt. SAC to settle for another tie.

NEXT UP:

The Mounties will look to break through with their first win of the season when they host College of the Desert on Friday, September 5, at 6:00 PM.
