Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team kept their winning streak alive with an impressive 7-0 victory over Los Angeles City on Friday, November 1, marking their ninth consecutive win. The Mounties showcased their offensive strength and depth with six different players finding the net, while the defense limited Los Angeles City to just two shots on goal. Goalkeepers Emily Vanderkallen and Anai Olmedo each made a save, ensuring another shutout for the team.

The match kicked off with excitement as Noely Rodriguez scored the opening goal just five minutes in, assisted by Leilani White, giving the Mounties a swift 1-0 lead. However, that would be the only goal of the first half.

Determined to build on their lead, the Mounties exploded in the second half, scoring six goals. Michelle Vazquez initiated the onslaught in the 56th minute with a goal set up by Stephanie Flores. Just three minutes later, Brianna Bernal added another unassisted goal. Eden Ramirez followed suit in the 61st minute, also capitalizing on a pass by Flores.

Vazquez found the net again in the 65th minute, this time assisted by Vivian Lopez. Lopez then got in on the action herself in the 73rd minute, finding the net with an assist from Sofia Torres. Finally, Torres capped off the scoring with a well-placed shot, set up by Yaritza Chavez.

With this victory, the Mounties extend their remarkable statistic to 10 shutouts out of 12 wins. Their overall record now stands at 12-4-3, and they remain the only team in the South Coast Conference with a perfect 8-0 record. Meanwhile, Los Angeles City falls to 3-15-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference play.

The match was particularly special as it marked Sophomore Day, a celebration honoring the team's graduating players. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as family, teammates, and coaches came together to show their support, presenting the sophomores with flowers and balloons. It was a heartfelt occasion that recognized the players' contributions and dedication to the team.

Looking ahead, the No. 6 ranked Mounties will host the No. 13 ranked Long Beach City College Vikings for their final regular-season game on Tuesday, November 5, at 6:30 PM. Long Beach holds a 10-2-4 overall record and a 6-1-1 conference record. The South Coast Conference Tournament begins on Friday, November 8, with match times and locations yet to be announced.
