Mounties Women's Soccer gets back on winning track at Cypress

(Cypress, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (5-1-1) handed host Cypress College (5-1) its first loss of the season, a 3-1 non-conference defeat on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The Chargers got on the board first with a goal by Celine Gehrig (Amber Mielke assist) at the 21:33 mark. The Mounties got even when Brianna Bernal found the back of the net on an unassisted score at 38:23 to send the game into halftime tied.

In the second half, Kristin Mijares (Natalia Reyes assist) gave Mt. SAC a 2-1 lead with a goal at the 53:44 mark. Veronica Aquino sealed the win for the Mounties with an unassisted score at 81:53.

In 90 minutes, goalie Anai Olmedo made two saves for Mt. SAC.

Next up for the Mounties is a non-conference home game against Golden West College (1-2-1) on Friday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m.
