Mt. SAC Women's Soccer, Chaffey Battle to 0-0 Tie

(Walnut, CA) Goals were hard to come by in a women's soccer game between the visiting Chaffey College Panthers and Mt. SAC Friday (Sept. 6). In fact, no goals were scored as the two teams battled to a hard-fought 0-0 tie at the Mt. SAC Soccer Complex.

"The entire team played with high intensity," Mt. SAC Interim Women's Soccer Head Coach Juan Sanchez said. "I'm very proud of the effort on both sides of the ball.

"Captains Taylor Moose and Stephanie Robles did an outstanding job defensively."

Chaffey goal keeper turned away all six shots on goal by the Mounties (2-1-1), while Sophia Kramar of Mt. SAC stopped five Panther attempts.

On the offensive side of the ball, Sanchez was happy with the play of forwards Alyssa Williams and Pamela Huaman, "They were both very active up top."

In the 70th minute the Mounties had a chance to take a late lead, but missed on a penalty kick attempt.

"I'm glad that the team has responded with open minds to the change of expectations and team culture," Sanchez said. "But the team played great and worked hard!"

The double blanking was the second time in the last two seasons that the Mounties and their opponents ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Mountie women will host Orange Coast College Tuesday (Sept. 10) for their next game.
