Mt. SAC Women’s Soccer Blanks Compton, 3-0; Botello Records her sixth Shutouts

(Compton, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team, with its fourth consecutive shutout in a row, defeated Compton College 3-0 in a South Coast Conference crossover game on Friday October 26th.

With the victory, the Mounties evened their record at 8-8 overall.

Mt. SAC held a 1-0 lead late in the second half, but scored two goals in the last 17 minutes to seal the win.

Midfielder Liana Sanchez scored her third goal of the season in the first half in the 36th minute to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead. Defender Kharishma Soma sent the ball from midfield into the 18-yard box to Sanchez for the goal.

In the second half, midfielder Jessica Helmick gave the Mounties a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute after forward Kin Spencer chipped it in to her for the goal.

Vivian Ortega put the game away with an unassisted goal and the 3-0 lead in the 83rd minute.

Mt. SAC goal keeper Jacqueline Botello, who only had to make one save in the game, recorded her sixth shutout of the season.

Offensively, the Mounties took an amazing 32 shots in the game.

Mt. SAC plays a South Coast Conference North game on Tuesday October 30 at home against Rio Hondo. Game time is 4:00 pm.
