Lemoore, Calif. – As expected, the Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team took first place in the 3C2A Southern California Regionals at Lemoore College on Saturday, December 6 with 213.5 points. Cerritos College followed in second with 158 points and Cuesta College rounded out the top three with 133 points.
The Mounties showcased impressive depth across all weight classes, placing 11 wrestlers and qualifying all 12 for the upcoming 3C2A Individual State Championships, set for December 12–13 at Sierra College in Rocklin. Mt. SAC collected three first-place finishes and a strong set of additional podium performances across the lineup.
Mountie Highlights by Weight Class
125 lbs. – Manuel Martir (2nd Place)
Martir opened with wins over Moorpark's Logan Hansen (13–4) and teammate Camilo Ramirez (7–3), advancing to the final before narrowly falling to Cerritos' Adrian Jimenez, 3–4.
141 lbs. – Jason Saenz (1st Place)
Saenz continued his outstanding season with a dominant run through the bracket, defeating Lemoore's Chris Garza (15–2) and Cerritos' Luis Acosta-Tackett (6–3). He sealed the title with a tight 5–4 decision over Cerritos standout Isaac Gonzalez.
149 lbs. – Michael Williams (2nd Place)
Williams battled his way to the championship match with wins over Rio Hondo's Adam Duong (7–5) and Bakersfield's Brendon Ko (4–1). He finished as the runner-up after a hard-fought 1–0 loss to Cerritos' Sean Otero.
157 lbs. – Maxximus Martinez (1st Place)
One of Mt. SAC's top performers over the past two seasons, Martinez dominated his bracket with remarkable consistency. He posted consecutive 3–0 victories over ELAC's Geo Abrego and Palomar's Marvin Morton, followed by a commanding 12–2 win against Rio Hondo's Larry Cruz. Martinez secured the title with a 3–0 takedown win over Victor Valley's Chris Guerrero.
165 lbs. – Veysel Pekince (1st Place)
Pekince rolled to the championship with four decisive wins, defeating ELAC's Leo Martinez (16–1), Rio Hondo's Matthew Flores (14–3), Bakersfield's Giovanni Ruiz (17–1), and Cuesta's Preston Scharf (14–1) in the final.
285 lbs. – Dib Sawaya (2nd Place)
Sawaya advanced to the heavyweight final with victories over Cerritos' Simon Flores (2–2 criteria) and Bakersfield's Seth Seibert (4–1). He finished second after facing Bakersfield's Jonathan Garcia in a 1–4 decision.

The Mounties now set their sights on the 3C2A Individual State Championships, where they look to clinch their third straight state title. Action begins December 12–13 at Sierra College in Rocklin.
