San Marcos, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team kicked off their conference dual season in dominant fashion, securing a 39-7 victory over the Palomar Comets. The Mounties put on a commanding performance across the board, winning 8 of 10 bouts, including five by fall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The night started strong at 125 lbs., with Camilo Ramirez earning a pin over Lance Nguyen, setting the tone early. At 133 lbs., Rylan (Rocco) Madrid followed suit, securing another fall over Tyler Williams. Jason Saenz continued the momentum at 141 lbs. with a dominant technical fall against S. Porras.
In a tightly contested 149 lbs. match, Michael Williams edged out Nicholas Rodriguez by decision, and Maxximus Martinez (157 lbs.) got the Mounties back in pinning form with a fall over S. Escalante. Wendell Mitchell (165 lbs.) kept the energy high with yet another fall, this time over Roman Gonzales.
The winning continued as Jacob Longcrier (174 lbs.) claimed a decision against S. Hen, and Roman Loya (184 lbs.) added bonus points with a major decision over Giancarlo Tolentino.
Palomar picked up their only wins in the final two weight classes, with Jakar Carter (197 lbs.) earning a decision over Cody South, and N. Jones (HWT) securing a major decision against Ryan Pean.

The Mounties return to the mat on Wednesday, October 15, at 7:00 PM as they head to Cerritos College for their next conference dual.
