Santa Ana, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team delivered an impressive performance at the Santa Ana Tournament on Saturday, claiming four individual championships and several top finishes across weight classes.
CHAMPIONS:
- Dib Sawaya captured first place in the 285-pound weight class with dominant wins over Joseph Chavez (Rio Hondo), John Ramirez (Moorpark), Diego Nuno (Lemoore College), and Dylan Avila (Santa Ana College).
- Roman Loya also earned first place in the 184-pound division by defeating Joseph Weiss (Palomar), Juan Pablo (Lemoore), Grady Cloyd (Sacramento City), and Farzad Hashimi.
- In the 165-pound class, Veysel Pekince fought through five matchups to secure the title. His victories came against Ben Kirk (Moorpark), Robbie Rael (Lemoore), Matthew Flores (Rio Hondo), Damien Valdez (Lemoore), and Nathaniel Dominguez (Moorpark).
- Rylan Madrid took first place in the 133-pound division with wins over Elias Casas (Victor Valley), Hunter Haynes (Palomar), Isaiah Cruz (Cerritos), Edmon Altunyan (Rio Hondo), and Billy Thornton (Sacramento City).
ADDITIONAL PLACEMENTS:
- Camilo Ramirez earned second place in the 125-pound weight class.
- Jayden Espinoza took fifth place in the 157-pound division.
- Jacob Longcrier (174 lbs.), Ruben Ortiz (149 lbs.), and Wendell Mitchell (165 lbs.) each secured sixth place finishes.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties will face Palomar College in their first conference dual of the season on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:00 PM.
