The Mt. SAC Mounties celebrate their back-to-back Dual Team State Championships after defeating No. 2 Fresno City College.

Walnut, Calif. – In a thrilling clash of the state's top-ranked teams, the No. 1 Mt. San Antonio College Mounties defeated No. 2 Fresno City College 29-17 to capture the Dual Team State Championship for the second consecutive year on Sunday, November 24. This victory marks the fifth championship title in Mt. SAC wrestling program history.

The Mounties secured the win by taking six of the ten matches, showcasing their depth and skill across weight classes. Victorious wrestlers included Jason Saenz (133 lbs.), Aldo Quintero (141 lbs.), Maxximus Martinez (157 lbs.), Jack Estevez (165 lbs.), Roman Loya (184 lbs.), and Mo Talebi (197 lbs.). Standout performances included pins from Saenz, Martinez, and Loya, as well as decisive takedowns by Quintero, Estevez, and Talebi. These efforts cemented the Mounties' position as the top men's wrestling team in the state.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Head Coach David Rivera expressed pride in his athletes, stating, "I was so excited to see the guys wrestling to the best of their ability. That is key. This was an opportunity for us to showcase what we've been doing behind closed doors, and that is what I always preach to them—do the work behind doors and show it off when the lights come on."

The Mounties now shift their focus to individual competition, starting with the 3C2A Southern Regionals at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park on Saturday, December 7. They will then compete at the 3C2A Individual State Championship hosted by West Hills College in Lemoore.

"We're going to keep working on our fundamentals and be ready to compete in the individual regionals in two weeks," Rivera said.

Stay tuned as the Mounties continue their impressive season!
