Mounties Claim Championship at Lassen College Open, Powered by First-Place Wins

Reno, Nev. – The Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team put on a dominant display at the Lassen College Open in Reno, Nevada, on November 1-2, taking home the first-place team title with 147.5 points. The Mounties outpaced second-place Santa Rosa (130.5 points) and third-place Delta College (95.5 points), securing the championship in impressive fashion.  With this impressive win, Mt. SAC continues to build momentum and strengthen its position as one of the top wrestling programs in the state.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties were led by strong individual performances across multiple weight classes, highlighted by four first-place finishes.

At 149 pounds, Brian Geiger claimed the top spot with a tight 1-0 decision over his teammate Michael Williams. Kevin Camacho also captured first place at 165 pounds, securing a fall in 1:44 over Jared Williams of Redwoods.

The biggest standout performance came at 174 pounds, where Jakob Hand earned first place after a medical forfeit victory over teammate Javier Montes, who finished in second, marking a Mt. SAC 1-2 finish in the weight class.

At 285 pounds, Isaac Lopez rounded out the first-place finishes for Mt. SAC, dominating his championship match with a tech fall victory over Cesar Lopez of Lassen, winning 15-0.

UP NEXT:

The Mounties will host the 3C2A State Dual Championships on Sunday, November 24, at 3:00 PM, where they will face off against No. 2 ranked Fresno City College in what promises to be their toughest competition of the season.
