The Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team had another outstanding performance at the 2024 Modesto College Invite, claiming second place out of 12 schools with a total score of 129.0. Fresno City College took first place with a score of 171.5 and Modesto Junior College rounded out the top three with 116.5 points.
The team demonstrated their depth with a strong showing across various weight classes, including one champion, three runners-up, three third-place finishers, two fourths, and a sixth-place finish.
One of the most exciting moments from the tournament was when freshman Roman Loya won first place in the 184lbs weight class and captured his first college tournament championship.
Coach Rivera expressed pride in the team's achievements stating, "This was a great performance by our team. I'm very happy with the adjustments the men have made in a week and I'm looking forward to our next competition."
The Mounties will take on the Rio Hondo Roadrunners on Wednesday, October 9, for the first conference dual meet of the season.
